Young people on our programme make an average of 13 months progress on our programme, above the average of 9 months

65% of young people are working at age related expectation in writing by the end of the academic year, compared to 12% at the beginning of the year

84% of young people say that they have increased confidence in reading and writing during their time on the programme.

“Reading can be the great equaliser, allowing all children access to the best of what has been thought and said. Key Stage 2 is the time they can start to see themselves as readers and discover the pleasure they can get from books that they chose to read.”

– Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP, Prior Minister of State for Schools

“Pupils who struggle to keep up from the beginning can quickly fall behind and find it increasingly difficult to access the same curriculum as their peers.”

Our Pirates and Sailors’ Stories

We are so proud of our Pirates’ and Sailors’ achievements throughout their time with us. Through our weekly, term-time sessions, focusing on developing and building upon our young learners’ reading, writing, communication, and personal, social and emotional skills, we aim for all of our learners to thrive in Literacy, the wider curriculum and their wider lives. Here are some inspiring case studies from some of our young learners.
